How To Put Guitar Strings On Correctly
Why my finger will stop strings when i play guitar?
For example, I try to play A string on 3rd fret, and if I then play D string on 2nd fret with my middle finger, the sound come out wrong cuz my 2nd finger at A string stopped D string!
Why, is anyway I could improve on it? Is it because Im a guitar beginner?( btw, I have a electronic-acoustic) can someone show me something like a diagram or video to tell me how to put the fingers correctly plz!! Or is it cuz the guitar’s neck is too thick?( I bought it online) HELP! this problem has stopped me playing guitar for over a month now…
I find the fret hand position is the hardest thing to get right…
I’ll try to describe what I think is the right position:
Hold you hand flat in line with your arm, ‘karate chop’ style, upper arm at the side of your body & forearm roughly straight out forward.
Rotate your wrist slightly so your palm matches the angle of the guitar neck & bring your thumb up on to the top back of the neck. Let your hand sag away from the neck; don’t grip it with your thumb, if your hand is too tight in you can’t get cleanly on to the first string.
Now try and bend your fingers in to the frets, starting with your fingertips – keep your palm as flat as you can so the tips of your fingers reach the frets, rather than folding the full length of your fingers over the fretboard.
It may not be perfect, but it seems to be a good starting point.
