How To Fix Guitar Strings Rattle

October 16th, 2011 admin

Why is there a rattling noise on my guitar frets 5 to 14 on my E string? it makes no noise, just a rattle?

So I just bought DR Strings, And I messed with the height of the string holder piece on my Gibson Les Paul. And I don’t think that has much to do with it but, When I put the new DR strings on it (10 Gauge Black Beauty’s) The E string can’t play any sounds on frets 5 to 14. Even if I’m not plugged into an amp. It makes a quiet rattle sound. Why? And how can I fix this?

You said so yourself that you messed with the height so, undo what you did otherwise string buzz can be anything from
1. Warped Neck, or wrong tension set
2. Bridge saddle height
3. Nut cut too low
4. Fret height
I’d recommend learning how to set the intonation of your guitar or taking it to someone who knows how to do guitar setup.
