Guitar Strings Tie
how am i supposed to change the strings on my guitar?
okay so i have sort of a cheap guitar; i got it for christmas and it has nylon strings and they had no ball things on the end and there aren’t any like, nail-like things – they’re just like tied into the bridge.
So yesterday i went out and bought some metal strings. I don’t know what to compare them to, so I don’t know how to change them.
I tried to put the thinnest E string on first. I just unwound the peg (on the neck) and took that side off, and then untied the side on the bridge. Then I just threaded through the other string and pulled it tight. It sounds really stupid. It sounds like that one instrument in that asian or siberian tribe(or country?) where the instrument is like a guitar but goes more like a boing. That can’t be right.
So how can I see how to change the guitar strings?
I would really appreciate it if you gave me like a diagram or something that showed the type of acoustic guitar I have.
Do not – absolutely DO NOT – put metal strings on a nylon string guitar. Steel strings run at twice the tension of nylon strings. Doubling the tension will warp the neck, twist the sound board, and lift the bridge.
Classical guitars use nylon strings, and they typically are tied to the bridge rather than relying on a ball end. Here’s a site that shows how to tie the strings on.
