Guitar Strings Notes Chords

Why can’t I play basic chords on the guitar…?
without my finger getting in the way, and accidentally muting a string next to it. For instance, when I play the C (v1) chord, my finger always ends up muting the fourth string (G). Any tips on striking guitar chords correctly and flawlessly (without unintentionally hitting other notes)? Aaaalso, the strings on my guitar need to be pressed down really hard, otherwise no noise will be made. Is that every guitar or just mine?
Thanksss in advance! I’m still new at playing guitar:)
It just takes practise. i’m also new to the guitar (about 4 days new) the trick is getting your fingers co-ordinated. it just takes practise and lots of it, just do what i’ve been doing work on one chord at a time and take your time getting it. You’ll get it after a while. I’m far from perfect but after practising for about 3 hours everyday i’m starting to get the hang of it i can do a couple of chords now. I stll need a lot more practise though
As for your fingers the skin needs to thicken a little to adjust to the strings it takes about a week my fingertips are already getting more comfortable though not there yet.
