What’s the name of the percussion instrument that sounds like a monkey?
It looks like a cilinder, and although I haven’t ever seen a real one, I *think* it works like one of those little boxes that make a cow’s sound when you turn them over. It vaguely resembles the sound of a monkey.
I’m actually looking for the name of the type of music that it’s most used for. It’s often heard in combination with a flute, orchestral harp, high pitched strings, bass, an all-female choir and a disco-ish guitar to create music that’s used in cartoons about greek mythology (that’s where I’ve heard this type of music, at least…)
it’s a bit jazzy too, mostly with samba rythms, and for some reason I think this type of instrumental music was really popular in the 70′s….
I might have been a bit too specific, but any help would be greatly appreciated!
