Guitar Strings Install

guitar strings install
Will my newly installed guitar strings break if I bend them?

Okay, so I’m about to install my new DBG-11′s which are 11-50s. I’m not someone who has the money to buy new strings very often (I’d like to but I just can’t) so I’m afraid that I’ll break em right away. I love playing crunchy rhythm riffs, but I also love to play solos with lots of bends.

What I’m wondering is, will my strings break or have the risk of breaking if I bent them 1 semi-tone or a tone higher? I currently have the 1st string installed, and it is tuned to D, but I might put it to E. When I want to bend it, I kinda hesitate to do it because the tension is pretty strong, and it feels like it’s just going to snap?

So, will my strings break if I bent them that much?

Strings won’t break even if you bend it 100 times one full tone or more even is you use 008. If the string breaks, its usually through too much stretching such as bending the trem too high OR, it could be a kink in the brdige saddle. Other thatn that, don’t lose sleep especially with a .011. Those strings will only break with age. LOL

Enjoy the instrument dude. :)
