Guitar Strings For Acoustic Electric
Best kind of acoustic/electric guitar strings?
I have a great Ibanez acoustic electric guitar. I have been on an endless search for strings that compliment the guitar. I usually use 10 or 11 gauge strings of various popular brands but nothing thrills me thus far. I play mostly blues and folk so I need strings that give off a deep, smoothe, resonant tone. I don’t want something “plucky” or “twangy.” I don’t play everyday so I would also prefer a smaller gauge to keep my fingertips from shredding open. Any suggestions?
Elixir strings are the best. They are coated so the dead skin and oils from your hands don’t get between the windings. They last about three times longer than other strings, and they sound wonderful – full and bright. They cost about $15 per set, but because of the extended use they are worth it in the long run. They make several guages down to .010.
