Floyd Rose troubles concerning angle?

I just restrung my Ibanez RG340 with flat-wound jazz guitar strings. These are a little thicker than the ones I buy usually because I wanted them to last a little longer than usual. However, I’m now only tuned 1/2 step down and the Floyd Rose is at an angle of about 30 to 35 degrees!!! I decided that I would leave it that way for now, hoping the strings would stretch, but I’m having the impression that it is futile and that I did something wrong because this doesn’t usually happen.

What might be going on or am I doing the right thing by letting the strings stretch?
