Electric Guitar Strings Replacing

guitar strings on acoustic-electric?
i got an acoustic-electric guitar for christmas. my dad was trying to tune it or something, and he broke the string (just one). he has extra strings from his electric guitar so he just put one of those on my guitar (he replaced the broken one and just left all the other ones). and now it sounds weird. does it sound weird because its a different brand of strings? or because its for an electric guitar and not an acoustic electric guitar?….youre suposed to use acoustic strings on an acoustic-electric guitar, right?
what brand of strings are the best to get (we’re going out to get new strings tomorrow)?
you dont need to use acoustic for acoustics as once when i was on a gig i was doing a acoustic song and i messed up tuning up and needed a string quick so i grabbed the nearest electric string, sounded the same as they basically the same thing just different material. maybe the string guage is different or maybe out of tune as new strings go out of tune fast until they have settled and stretched
also i always use electric strings for my acoustics as they are cheaper.
i recommend d’addario acoustic strings, just go in the store if you want a lighter sound get a thinner gauge for a more beefy sound get a heavier gauge or feeling adventurous get some hybrid strings, all basically the same but lighter gauge is easier on the fingers
