classical guitar strings best
Are nylon strings best for classical guitar?

I’ve played guitar for 9 years now but i nvr have tried classical, I have money and am buying a classical. do the strings have to be Nylon

If it is a classical guitar, yes. Classical guitars have no truss rod (typically) so if you put steel strings on it, you will damage it (too much tension.)

If you are asking, “Can I play classical guitar music on a steel string guitar?”, then the answer is yes. You can play classical music on a steel string guitar. But you may find that you can’t get all the same colors on steel strings as you can on nylon. I play steel for jazz and nylon for classical. When I try to play classical on my jazz guitar, it drives me crazy because I can’t get all the subtleties timbre I can on my classical guitar. But there are people who do it and seem pleased with the result, just not me.

Nylon can seem strange at first. It take a while to develop the touch to get a good tone out of them, but it’s worth it. Just find a good teacher.
